STAVES DINING TABLEView full Stone Ridge collection
Named after the individual boards, or "staves" used to create french wine barrels, the Staves Dining Table adds a casual ambiance into the dining space. The base of the table takes design cues from architectural elements found on our tour or wineries. The Staves Dining Table includes two 20 inch leaves for added seating flexibility.
Inspired by our favorite winery, Stone Ridge incorporates the materials, architecture, and lifestyle found in this ancient art into beautiful pieces for the home. It started by looking at a simple, solid french oak wine barrel. The casual, organic sensibilty of wine making implements are more than just beautiful - they tell a story. Kincaid looked first to the wood selection and began with a blend of French and American Oak. Prized for its strength and grain character the oak used in Stone Ridge is also selected for its cut. A mix of quarter sawn and plank cut boards are selected and then laid up and planked as the old-timers would have done leaving each board to stand out. The finish adds its own special character as a light cerusing glaze is hand-rubbed before the final protective coats seal it all in. Finally, custom designed hardware influenced by traditional cutlery pulls it all together. Other design elements include the worn black finish, nailhead trim, and solid framed panel construction. Like fine wine, this exquisite example of solid wood furniture will only improve with time. In addition to modern features like our adjustable soft-close drawer glides, Kincaid utilizes the best of the old-world construction techniques. Such features include English Dovetails, mortise and tenon construction, floating tops and panels, full dust proofing, and multi-step hand-rubbed finishes.
